Water Network Surveys
Pressure, flow and hydrant testing across your whole network
Since 2015Own locators, hydro-vac & diggersAuckland · Franklin · North Waikato
What it is
A check of how a whole private water network is performing: where the pipes, valves and hydrants actually are, how much water is going in versus being used, and whether pressure and hydrant flow are what they should be.
When you need it
- A site with many buildings is losing water and nobody knows where.
- You manage a body corporate, school or village with no up-to-date pipe plans.
- Hydrants need flow and pressure results for a fire compliance check.
What you get
- A map of your network with valves, hydrants and meters located.
- Flow, pressure and night-flow readings showing where water is being lost.
- A prioritised list of leaks and faults to fix, with locations marked.

Gain Clarity & Confidence in Your Water Infrastructure

We provide pressure testing, hydrant and valve surveys, and network mapping services across Auckland, Franklin, and North Waikato, supporting leak detection, maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades with reliable results.
What’s included
What a network survey covers
Pressure Testing for Water Mains Integrity
Confirm the strength and reliability of your water mains before they cause disruptions. Our mains water pressure testing detects leaks, weak points, and irregular pressure fluctuations early — helping you plan timely maintenance and avoid costly water loss.
Topographical & GIS Network Mapping
We create accurate topographical maps of your water distribution network using GPS and digital surveying technology. The data is delivered in GIS-compatible shapefiles, giving you precise insight into the spatial layout of mains, hydrants, and valves for asset management.
Hydrant & Valve Performance Surveys
Ensure fire safety readiness and compliance with detailed hydrant flow and pressure assessments. We test and record hydrant and valve performance, accessibility, and condition to help you maintain operational efficiency and meet regulatory requirements.
Integrated Leak Detection & Repair Support
Our Acoustic Leak Detection and Leak Excavation & Repair services integrate seamlessly with network surveys. If testing reveals pressure loss or leaks, we can locate and repair the issue — delivering a complete end-to-end solution.

West Auckland
Campus Leak Detection & Repair
After suffering long-term issues with water loss, system configuration and location, Utility Works was engaged to find and repair the leaks at a West Auckland campus. The site spanned over 150 acres with extensive buildings and intertwining historic and modern piping networks. The project involved extensive system isolation and configuration testing, GPR and pipe tracing, re-mapping and full leak detection surveying. Once the losses were located, over 14 underground leaks were excavated and repaired. From initial engagement to completion of the first stage of repairs, the campus saw an 83% reduction in minimum night-flow loss.

South Auckland
Retirement Village Water Leak Detection & Repair
A large retirement village of 58 units in South Auckland had been experiencing underground water loss. Utility Works conducted system loss testing, system mapping, mark-out and CCTV/sonde pinpointing of joint and tapping band positions, isolation point installation, followed by acoustic and infrared detection works. Once leak positions were located, we implemented strategic excavation and pipe repairs, followed by ground reinstatement and site clean-up. This successful project resulted in the accurate locating and repair of five leak positions, and provided substantial water savings to the client.

Water Reticulation Systems for Subdivisions and Developments in NZ: Process, Consents, Costs and Timelines
Water reticulation is the pipe network that carries water from the public main to every lot, unit or building on a site. Developers usually meet it late, when a consent condition or a Watercare approval holds up titles. This guide sets out what the network has to do, who approves it, what it typically costs, how long each step takes, and the mistakes that cause rework.
